Thursday, 7/14/2022 - Girls' Afternoon Out in Panajachel

Craig woke up very dehydrated with screaming headache, but his diarrhea was gone thanks to the antibiotics. We had Danny's banana bread for breakfast. During a break from work, I played Uno with Aracely and Yasmin. Craig came out of the room and played too. It was the same Uno game we had brought to them many years ago. We were amazed that it was still around and in such good shape.

Lunch was chicken and veggies in garlic. We gave the family a puzzle with their photographs on it that we had made with Shutterfly. We had made it several years ago, and the only problem with it was that it included a picture of Paola's ex-boyfriend. She had still been with him when we had ordered the puzzle. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun for Aracely, Paola, Yasmin, Paulina, Craig, and I (6 individual photos that people could work on and then attach to one another at the end).

I finished up work while Craig rested.

At 4 o'clock, I went for a walk with Paulina, the girls, and Octavio. It was Octavio's first time off the property on a leash, and he insisted on being carried for much of the way. We walked down to the lake and got photos on the dock and at the heart. It was hot, so it was a good thing that Craig didn't come with us in his dehydrated state. We walked up Santander Street and stopped at Sarita for ice cream. I got a strawberry milkshake. We ate outside at the picnic tables, and Paola gave Octavio his first taste of ice cream. Then we took a leisurely walk further up Santander, past Dispensa Familiar (where there was a small religious procession in progress) and then down the street where Atitlan Multicultural Academy is located. We saw some amazing street art and a very interesting pelican flower. Paola was carrying Octavio and Aracely was absent-mindedly swinging his leash around when a street dog ran by and got snared in it. We all laughed so hard! As we were walking home, we ran into Eddy on his way home from school.

When we got back to the house at around 7 p.m., Craig was sleeping. Eddy worked on the puzzle. Dinner was soup with bread, but Craig slept through it. I was feeling tired and my cold was acting up a bit, so I went to bed early at 8:30.
