Tuesday 11/30/10 - Departure

We woke up at 7 a.m. and had breakfast of cereal, coffee, and orange juice. We packed everything up and took one last look at our gorgeous view. We would have to be content with the Dive Shop Web Cam view until we return next Thanksgiving. The hotel had slipped a copy of our bill under the door last night. We looked it over and all seemed fine. We left the room at 10:45. The check-out process was quick and efficient, and we were on the road by 11 o'clock. We stopped at Marty's place to drop off the Limin' Cooler (which he was kind enough to lend us for Steve's iPod throughout the trip). We took in the beautiful view from his porch and then continued on to the airport.

We were there 3 hours prior to our flight, so we had plenty of time to return the rental car, check in, and go through security. We got some cheese johnnycakes at the airport food court (it's basically like a cross between grilled cheese, a doughnut, and fried dough - what's not to love?) The food court makes a small amount of local cuisine each day, and when it's gone, it's gone. We beat the rush today, and we enjoyed the johnnycakes thoroughly. I found a free electrical outlet and plugged in my netbook, typing in notes from our recent trip to Ecuador.

The plane left on time at 3:20 p.m. Craig was disappointed that there was no Cranapple onboard. That is his go-to beverage on airlines. My netbook battery worked for the whole flight to Miami. When we arrived, we had to take the sky train to our gate. But, hey, at least we didn't have to go through customs. We got to the gate and I plugged in and sat on floor typing. I was seated next to some folks who were from my small hometown. Small world.

As nothing can ever go completely smoothly at the Miami airport, there were delays. Two hours, to be precise. Instead of landing in Boston at 10:15 p.m., we landed at 12:15 a.m. and had to walk from terminal B to A to get to the car. By the time we made it back to the house, it was 1:00, and we had to go to work the next day. Maybe we'll try to avoid traveling via Miami next year...
