Friday 8/26/2022 - Preparing for our Uluru tripWe woke up around 9:30 a.m., and took showers. Sonam Tshering came home from work shortly after 10 a.m. Sonam Choki made us breakfast. The next thing we knew, we were smelling bacon. The Sonams are vegetarians, and we certainly didn't expect them to cook meat just for us. But they are always more than happy to please, and along with the bacon, she made us a sandwich with mozzarella cheese, spinach, and tomatoes, and also some noodles. We chatted for hours, just enjoying one another's company. We would be flying all night, so we didn't want to really do anything today other than rest up and prepare. We went over our jam-packed itinerary; we would be making the most of our three night stay at Uluru. We had booked everything in advance, including excursions, transportation, and national park passes. We would not be checking any bags to Uluru, so we got everything we needed for the next three days packed into carry-on bags. We left all of our non-essentials at their house. The Sonams made us lunch: a nice big burger with a fried egg on top, plus cheese, tomato, and spinach. For vegetarians, they sure do a good job of cooking meat! Then we all decided to take a nap. Craig and I slept from 5:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. After waking up, we had some milk tea and a small bowl of noodles. Then Sonam Tshering called an Uber shortly before 11:30 p.m. We got to the airport and checked in at JetStar and then went through security. We found a place to sit at the gate and awaited our flight. |
