We woke up to a slamming door several seconds before our 6:30 alarm went off. We showered and headed to check out at 7:30. Although the room itself was nice, it was just too loud. In addition to all of the hallway noise, it also seemed as if the water for every room in the hotel ran through our walls. Every flush, every shower... We would definitely stay at our tried and true Omni next time.
We caught a cab to O’Hare for $45 with a good tip (vs $40 for waiting around for the bus - I think we made the right choice). Our flight was scheduled for 10:29, but there was an earlier one at 9:21. We were there early, so I put our name onto the stand-by list, hoping we could get home an hour sooner. The standby list was long and we didn’t know if we would make it. But by the time the flight started to board , they announced a 45 minute mechanical delay. I withdrew our names and we decided to go with our regularly scheduled flight. There was a Garrett’s Popcorn kiosk near our gate, and I bought a $7 medium sized bag of caramel crisp popcorn to bring home. I asked if they still had their Michigan Ave store, and they said that they didn’t. We got some McDonald’s breakfast and then boarded the plane. We landed 20 minutes early at 1:25 pm. We were home shortly after 2:00.
