We had a great night in my old stomping grounds of north central Mass at the Bull Run seeing Richard Thompson in concert. The show was amazing...we had such a great view and could watch every nuance of his playing on acoustic guitar. "Beeswing" nearly brought me to tears, it was so delicate and heartfelt. He played absolutely classic material and also some new music which will be released this summer.
Zara Phillips joined in on vocals during the second half of the show. We had previously seen the two of them together in their quarantine livestreams, so it was nice to see her as well.
Then after the show, we ran into our friend Nickolas Tsui, whom we haven't seen in years. It was great to catch up with him, and he somehow worked his magic. The next thing we knew, we were getting RT's autograph on our newly purchased copy of his book. He politely noted that the book already had a signed bookplate, but he was nice enough to sign it again in person. Nick got a photo of the four of us together! Thanks, Nick! We also got a chance to chat briefly with Zara, telling her how much we enjoyed the lockdown livestreams, and she said that they were fun to do.
It was the perfect close to a perfect evening! It was well worth venturing out during the arctic blast temperatures.
