Thursday, February 24, 2022 - Working Remotely

I had an early meeting, so I set up my laptop in one of the upstairs rooms. I then joined the family in the kitchen for a breakfast of scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes, bread, ham, cheese, coffee.

We noticed that there were many hummingbirds around, and that they were significantly larger than the ones we tend to see at home.

Around midday, Shina and Yupanqui walked home from school. Antonio rode on his moto to collect Sisa at her school in Cotacachi. For lunch we had soup, spaghetti, mashed potatoes, and juice.

Craig and I went upstairs to look at the two tiny gray kittens which were nestled in blankets in a plastic barrel. They were absolutely adorable. They were in the room next to where I worked, and each day I would check in on them. The mother would come and go, getting food downstairs in the kitchen and then coming upstairs to nurse the kittens.

Adeliz Dashel has a plastic push car that she likes to ride in. One of the wheels came off, and she tried to fix it herself, looking like a little mechanic. Then later Yupanqui fixed it for her. He seems to have really matured a lot in the past couple of years. It's obvious that he likes having a baby sister to dote on.

Yupanqui and Adeliz Dashel fed the pig, and Adeliz Dashel helped Aida to take the trash out.

Sisa had her English lesson online, and once that was done, she practiced her saxophone.

We knew that Sisa is a big fan of the K-Pop group BTS, so we had bought her an English book about the boy band. We gave it to her and she was speechless.

We had a cup of coffee at the kitchen table and Sisa read aloud from her BTS book. We learned a lot about K-Pop and she learned some new English words. The book talked sabout "Gangnam Style" by Psy being a seminal K-Pop hit. Sisa wasn't sure that she knew the song, so I brought up the video on Youtube. As soon as it started, she recognized it and started singing along.

We asked Shina if she liked BTS too and she rolled her eyes and said no. She obviously doesn't understand her older sister's obsession.

Dinner was soup, sausages, lentils, fries, rice, salad, and mora juice.
