Friday, July 28, 2023 - Doing a Puzzle

For breakfast we had bread, turkey ham, crepes with mora (blackberry) jelly, patacones, yogurt, and coffee.

I took my computer outside to apply for some jobs. I keep up with sites like LinkedIn and Indeed to see what jobs have been posted within the past 24 hours, and then apply electronically to any which sound like a good fit. While I was outside, Kuri and Nena stayed close to me. Kuri gets around well in his walker. He is so close to being able to walk on his own; he just needs to work on his balance a little more. I took Nena for a ride in her little plastic car.

Lunch was broccoli soup, hot dog, fried egg, salad, rice, and llapingachos.

The girls did laundry at the outdoor sink, and Nena helped. Nena accidentally dropped one of her shirts into the deep water in the sink, and we had to fish it out using a broomstick. Kuri moved over toward the drum used by Antonio's band. He picked up the drumstick and beat on the surface of the drum. He is a little musician in training!

After the kids were done with their chores, we thought that it would be a good time to do an activity together. Craig made a cup of coffee to restore his energy. We had brought an oversized 300-piece 101 Dalmations jigsaw puzzle to build with the kids. We got it set up at the dining room table amd started to put it together with Shina, Sisa, and Yupanki. Yupanki helped at first but soon retreated into a video game. Shina took on the hardest parts of the puzzle with patience. We had a lot of fun and finished the puzzle in a little less than two hours' time.

The kids (including Nena) drew in their notebooks. Sisa is very good at looking at drawings and copying them accurately. She drew Cruella from the puzzle. Shina, on the other hand, draws mostly from her imagination.

The family keeps the cat food in the empty chest freezer (which is not plugged in). When Craig goes to slide open the freezer to get the cat food out, the younger cat head-butts him (really hard!) in anticipation. It happens without fail whenever he feeds them, and it is quite cute. The cats have really become more comfortable with us as the length of our stay increases.

For dinner we had maize soup, and pasta with shredded chicken, tomatoes, and onions.

We went to the casita early, because Sisa has English class in Ibarra early in the morning. Shina would accompany her, and they both have to get up very early in the morning to get there on time.
