Ecuador 1/11/2019 - 2/2/2019

Saturday, February 2, 2019 - Departure

We woke up very early this morning. We got dressed and packed away our last-minute items, leaving some things stored in the casita until our next visit. The house was pitch black, but at around 4:30 a.m. the light came on. Antonio and Rosa met us, and Rosa offered to make us food. We politely declined, but we each had a cup of coffee and Craig had a piece of bread.

The kids remained asleep. We tiptoed into their room to lay eyes on them one more time before returning home.

We thanked Rosa and Antonio for their hospitality. It is always difficult to say goodbye. They are truly our family and they take such good care of us when we visit.

Our van arrived in time for our 5 a.m. departure.

When we got to the airport, we checked in at the Avianca counter for our business class flight home. This meant that we were able to relax in the Avianca lounge eating some breakfast before it was time to board. Business class on Avianca is not that much more expensive than coach on other airlines. We could get used to this kind of luxiry!

Our flight departed at 9:17 a.m. to Bogota. We were fed a full breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit,a roll, juice, and coffee.

Our connection to Boston departed at 1:17 p.m. On this flight, we were served salad, ravioli (Steph) and steak in red wine sauce (Craig), cheeses, and Oreo cheesecake. We had a glass of Bailey's on the rocks with our dessert.
