Friday June 28, 2024 - Eddy Comes Home

I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and went outside to work. I was the first one to go outside this morning, and noticed that there was a mother cat sitting on Ian's sweatshirt, which had been left on the outdoor table. She had 3 kittens with her. They were all adorable. I managed to snap a couple of photos, but as soon as they saw me, they ran away.

First thing this morning, Humberto went to Solola to see the judge about yesterday's driving infraction. He ended up paying 300 quetzales (40 USD) for the traffic ticket. This was what he had expected, a much more reasonable fine than the 1500 Q that the cops had tried to get him to pay yesterday. He was given his license back.

We ate breakfast: a ham, cheese, and tomato omelet, beans, cream, cheese, plantains, oatmeal, salsa, tortillas, and coffee.

Being that it was a "summer Friday", I got out of work at 11 a.m.

We played Uno with Ian, and then talked wedding preparations with Aracely. She was looking online for nail designs, though she ultimately opted not to get her nails done, since the fumes might not be good for her pregnancy, and might make her nauseous.

Joel arrived with a sport coat for Ian to borrow for the wedding.

We played Uno with Yasmin, Paola, and Ian.

We had lunch (chicken, rice, and salad), and then Paola washed Octavio in the outdoor sink. He needed to be nice and clean as she would be taking him to the wedding reception.

Craig and I walked over to Santander Street to go to the ATM and to buy some Gatorades. When we got back to the house, the kids' cousin Laisa was there with her 4-year-old daughter Denora. We didn't know that she had a little one. Denora was adorable! We sat and chatted with them and Yasmin. The turtle's terrarium was being cleaned, and Denora was playing with the colored stones, pretending that they were gemstones.

It rained very heavily. We had tea and a raisin coffee cake that Danny had brought.

Eddy was discharged from the hospital and came home. We were glad that he was well enough to be discharged, but he was still very sick. It seemed unlikely that he would be well enough to attend the wedding tomorrow, which was a shame.

Dinner was black beans, tortillas, and hot dogs.

Then everyone went to bed to ensure that we were all ready for the big day tomorrow: our dear goddaughter's wedding.
