Sunday July 7, 2024 - DepartureWe woke up at 5:30 a.m. and got our last minute items packed. We sprayed Off for a final time, and there was just enough for our last dose. Humberto had bought us an additional can a couple of days ago, to ensure that we had enough. But we were able to leave that nice, full can with the family. We had coffee and toast for breakfast. As we were leaving the house at 7 o'clock, Yoselin, Yasmin, and Paola woke up to see us off. Humberto drove us to the airport. We made a bathroom stop and a gas stop, and arrived at the airport at 10:15. We said our goodbyes and thank yous to Humberto. We entered the airport, checked in, and got a wheelchair. The customs form was electronic, and I couldn't get it to work. It wouldn't load all the fields properly. But the wheelchair attendant assured me it didn't matter, and indeed it didn't. We went through a separate immigration and security checkpoint with the wheelchair. Our 1 p.m. flight was delayed to 1:36 p.m. We could have gone to the lounge since we had business class tickets, but if you do that you can't keep the wheelchair. So we opted to go to the gate. I was hungry so I went in search of food. I found a McDonald's and got myself a double cheeseburger, a McChicken for Craig, and an order of fries to share. We never usually eat at McDonald's, but it hit the spot. We boarded our flight and enjoyed our business class seats. We got Bailey's to drink. For a meal, I had macaroni and cheese, and Craig got pork. It was served with salad and chocolate cake. When we arrived in Miami, we had an excellent wheelchair attendant named Alexander. Our bags were marked as priority and were indeed some of the first out when we had to collect and recheck them. We had access to the Admiral's Club. Alexander brought us there and we signed up at the desk to be picked up and brought to the gate in time for our flight. This was our first time in a lounge in Miami, and, boy, was it nice! As a promotion, they were preparing fresh, made-to-order guacamole with chips. I stood in line, and when it was my turn, I told the woman what ingredients we would like in our guacamole. We also enjoyed charcuterie, cheese, crackers, chocolate chip cookies, and soda. There were clean, nice bathrooms with showers and changing rooms. It was a nice oasis from the chaos that is Miami International Airport. Someone came right on time at 8:15 p.m. to pick us up, and brought us to the gate. We boarded our flight and had Bailey's and Cheez Its. We arrived at Logan Airport in Boston around 12:15 a.m. Once again, our bags came out as priority. We took a taxi home, arriving at around 1:15 a.m. |
