Monday, June 23, 2025 - The Family Goes to the PoolsI woke up early and went outside to the patio to work at 7 a.m. Eddy and Ian are on school vacation this week. Eddy gave me a hug as he left for work.Humberto, Paulina, Ian, Vanesa, Emiliano, Paola, Yasmin, Yoselin, Mael, and Octavio the dog went to Manantial to swim. Ian is like a fish and absolutely loves the pools there. We have been several times in the past and it is a lot of fun. The family doesn't go on weekends because it is too crowded. Although I had to work today, I encouraged them to go to celebrate Ian's birthday. Craig stayed home with me, which I appreciated. The only demand we had was that Coray (the dog who hates us) would need to be tied up or confined to a room so that he wouldn't attack us while we were home alone, haha. Paulina gave us coffee to drink and told us that there was toast, peanut butter, and jelly for breakfast. We said goodbye to the family and I got to work. We heard the stray cat on the roof, and she sounded hungry. I grabbed a small handful of the dogs' kibble and tossed it up on the roof. As it hit the corrugated metal, the sound scared the cat and she ran away. We don't know if she ever ate it or not, but at least we tried. At around 11 o'clock, Aracely and Elsa showed up. They knew that we would be home alone today and came by to keep us company and make sure that we were fed. We played with baby Elsa. She was so cute: laughing, smiling, etc. Aracely offered to make us lunch, which was very sweet of her. But we just had a late breakfast of toasted bread with peanut butter and jelly. Joel usually goes home from his hotel job at 1 pm for lunch. Today he came over here on his lunch break, and Aracely heated up some leftover pepian for him. Elsa doesn't like to sleep anywhere but at home, and she started to get tired. So Aracely took her home as Joel went back to work. I worked some more and Craig and I each took showers. I ate some Takis Fuego chips that were leftover from my party. Craig did the sinkful of dishes from the past two days while I finished work for the day. When Joel got out of work, he and Aracely, and Elsa came back. Elsa had napped for 3 hours at home. We taught Joel to play Uno. They had hoped to see the family (and have a panini, which the family had promised to bring back from Parma, a dairy across from the pools), but they still weren't home from the pool by the time that Aracely, Joel, and Elsa had to go to a dinner for a child on Joel's side of the family. The family returned from the pools at 7:50 p.m. They had eaten brunch at a nice restaurant with a view of Lake Atitlan, and had then gone to the pools. They had also stopped at Parma to buy the requisite paninis. Craig was glad that he hadn't opted to go, as such a long day would have been difficult for him. In past years we had usually been home by around 5 p.m. If we had known that they would be so late, we might have gone out to buy some dinner (we've been curious about the Indian restaurant in town). But it all worked out, since they brought us a panini to split. Eddy came home from work. We had soup, garlic bread, and the takeout panini (mozzarella and sauce) for dinner. For dessert we had bolivianas (small fruits from the coast with a flowery taste). Ian and Mael played with Ian's dinosaur Lego skeletons. There are three separate skeletons to be constructed, and they continued where they had left off yesterday. Everyone was tired from their long day at the pool, so we went to our room at 9 o'clock. |
