Wednesday, November 20, 2019 - Working RemotelyAntonio was back to work today. He and the kids had all left the house before I headed up to my office for work.Breakfast was crepes filled with raspberry jam, ham and cheese on fresh bread, juice, and coffee. I was in a meeting so I had to enjoy this delicious breakfast in my office. El Señor Chipikins, my office assistant, was on notice. When the kids got home from school, I was able to join the family in the dining room for lunch. We had soup, chicken, llapingachos (potato pancakes), rice, salad, and juice. When I was done with work, we played hangman on the whiteboard with the kids. Yupanqui and Shina have improved by leaps and bounds in their ability to accurately figure out words compared to last January. A mosquito kept harassing us in the kitchen, so we taught the kids the Doors song "No Me Moleste Mosquito" (Don't bother me, mosquito). They got a big kick out of it: "No me moleste mosquito, Just let me eat my burrito, No me moleste mosquito, Why don't you go home?" It would become a running joke for the rest of the trip. After returning home from work, Antonio went to a meeting at the community center. The kids help out a lot with dinner preparations these days. Tonight Yupanqui made the juice by himself! Dinner was cream of asparagus soup with plantain chips followed by fried rice with veggies, chicken, and hot dog pieces. Craig doesn't bring his cane to dinner because it just gets in the way. So at the end of each night, the kids hold his hands and walk him back to our casita. It is so sweet, and I got a photo. |
