Thursday, October 13, 2022 - Working Remotely

Today was the third and final day of Program Increment Planning at work. I had plenty of meetings, but still had a little bit of down time. I was able to eat breakfast with the family: crepes, juice, coffee, cocoa, bread and mortadella.

Then I played with Kuri for a bit. Dashel came into the casita with a superball. She bounced it around, and I took photos of her. She then directed me to take photos of various things and people.

Then I went back to work.

Right before lunch, two tourists, a brother and sister from France named Julian and Melissa, arrived.

After I was done with work for the day, we had coffee/tea with them and Sisa played the guitar and sax for them. It is so cool that Sisa has the confidence to play in front of an audience.

Aida's cousin Celestina came over again to help with dinner. Julian and Melissa peeled potatoes and joked that it was punishment. I held baby Kuri for a while, while Aida cooked. Dashel was very friendly and played with the tourists, laughing a lot.

Just as we sat down for dinner, the power went out. Dinner was soup, chicken, plantain, veggies, and spaghetti. Aida lit some candles, and everyone turned on their phone flashlights and leaned the phones againstour drink glasses to create ambient light. Well, Julian and Melissa sure got the authentic experience of life in the village, where infrastructure can be iffy.

We all retired to our rooms after the dishes were cleaned.

The power came back at around 12:30 a.m., which is good, as I had to work in the morning.
